What does God want this Easter?

It’s Easter weekend and many of us will get a holiday just because Jesus died. But in reality, God wants to do more for us than a holiday or even Salvation. Yes, that’s right. God has more for you than Salvation! We’ve turned our Salvation into the fulness of our walk with God. Yet, Salvation was only to be the beginning experience of our walk with God. We evangelize by telling others that ALL they need is to be saved and then they will go to Heaven but we neglect to tell them the truth about God, that He wants to work through them right NOW while they live. God is not the god of the dead, He is Lord of ALL!

When Jesus was faced with a decision, life or the cross, he prayed, “My Father, if there is any way, get me out of this. But please, not what I want. You, what do you want?” (Matt. 26:39 MSG) I believe this prayer accurately sums up Jesus’ life on Earth. He was devoted to this: “You (God), what do YOU want?” In the end, Jesus did have to die. God did not think only of Him but of humanity, His Creation. How easy it would have been for Jesus to call down angels and avoid the trial all together. And yet because He was more concerned about God’s intentions than his own, he singlehandedly destroyed the damage done by darkness and sin and brought us ALL close to the presence of God (the veil was torn that had once separated God’s people from His holy presence).

What does God want? He wants us to live with HIM! He doesn’t want us to merely say a prayer and live the rest of our lives with no regard to a relationship with Him. He wants to know us and for us to know Him. What does God want? God wants us to do what He wants for in doing so, He will shower down blessings, healing, mercy, and goodness! Those who walk righteously with God, through Jesus, are those that God treasures.

This Easter, let’s do what God wants. Spend time with Him. Get to know His heart. Give up yourself and see how much God wants to work through you. Yes, God wants YOU!
